About Clarendon
Meet the family behind Clarendon.
Twenty-six years of windows, doors, conservatories, extensions and outdoor living — done properly, by the same family team from first quote to final fit.
Our story
Twenty-six years, one family, one telephone number.
Clarendon Home Improvements started out of a workshop in Grays in 1998 — a small operation fitting windows for neighbours and friends across Chadwell St Mary and the surrounding villages. Twenty-six years on, we're still based on Riverview, still family-run, and still answer the phones ourselves.
What we install has grown — from windows and doors to conservatories, orangeries, extensions, barn conversions, and the increasingly popular outdoor-living range of verandas, glassrooms and carports. What hasn't changed is who actually does the work. Mica, our Director, leads every project. There are no call centres, no commission salespeople, no sub-contracted strangers turning up at your door.
We work across Essex, Kent and the south-eastern fringes of London — close enough that every job is reachable in a morning, far enough that we've worked on everything from Grays semis to listed-barn conversions deep in the Kentish countryside. If you can drive there from RM16 in under ninety minutes, we'll quote it.
The promise is simple. We come and look at the job properly. We tell you honestly what's possible, what it'll cost, and how long it'll take. We don't push, and we don't disappear. Twenty-six years says that approach works.
— Mica Brougham, Director
How we work
What we don't do.
We don't use commission salespeople.
You'll only ever speak to people who actually do the work — Mica and her team. No closers, no pressure.
We don't make you wait for a quote.
Free survey within a week, written quote within a few days of that. No three-week silences.
We don't push finance if you don't want it.
Finance is there if it helps. It's not a sales tactic. Most clients pay on completion.
Plain trading. It's what's kept us in business for twenty-six years — and it's why most of our work comes from referrals.
Our team
The people doing the work.
A small family team — no anonymous fitters, no rotating contractors. The same faces from first survey to final handover.
Properly accredited
Why the badges matter.
Anyone can call themselves a window installer. The accreditations below are independent proof — checked annually, removed for poor work. Here's what each one means in plain English.

TrustMark
TrustMark is the only government-endorsed quality scheme in the UK trades. Membership means our work has been independently inspected, our customer service has been audited, and we've signed up to a code of conduct that puts customer protection first. It's the badge to look for when you're choosing any tradesperson.

NAPIT
NAPIT is an industry-leading certification body for building, electrical and glazing installers. We're NAPIT-registered, which means every installation we do is automatically notified to Building Control on your behalf — saving you the paperwork — and is covered by an insurance-backed guarantee even if Clarendon ceased trading tomorrow.

Rehau Authorised Partner
Rehau make the A-rated window and door systems we install. Authorised Partner status means we've been trained on their systems, hold the right tooling, and are vetted by Rehau themselves. It's not a sticker anyone can buy — partner status is restricted to installers Rehau trusts to fit their products properly.
Read about Rehau Authorised Partners →Insurance & Guarantees
Every installation we do is backed by Clarendon's own 10-year structural and workmanship guarantee, plus an insurance-backed guarantee through NAPIT that pays out even if Clarendon were no longer trading. We carry £5m public liability cover, with the certificate available on request.
Where we work
Essex, Kent and South London.
If you can drive to us from RM16 in under ninety minutes, we'll come and quote the job. Most of our work is across south Essex and Thurrock, with regular installs through Kent and the eastern London boroughs.
